Girls Football

Girl’s Football is still the fastest growing sport in this country

In June 2002, Soccerwise established a Girls Only Coaching Centre at Timperley Sports Club. As the demand grew, we soon developed additional mid-week sessions at Altrincham College of Arts & then Altrincham Leisure Centre for its winter indoor team training

We became part of a group of Coaches/Managers from 5 clubs across Trafford, met formed a committee & who drove forward the idea of a Girls Football League in the South Manchester Area. ( S.M.G.F.L.)

On Friday 17th January 2003, in partnership with Greater Manchester Sports & Trafford Sports Development, Soccerwise Coaching Scheme & Football Focus delivered the first Girl’s Only Coaching Scheme at the new M.U.F.C. Training ground at Carrington. This would provide quality football coaching to Girls in the Trafford Area.

As Girls confidence grew a high percentage went on to join local Girls Teams with Clubs who traditionally had only played Boys Football.

In May 2005, Soccerwise negotiated a new venue at Woodheys Primary School; we soon had 50 registered players playing for 4 teams from Under 10’s to Under 14’s

Soccerwise are proud to be still there over 6 years later. Both giving the opportunity for individual Girls to play football & also supporting the gifted players to reach their potential. We have seen many of our players develop a real passion for the game & seen some go on & play for the current F.A. Girls Centre of Excellence at Ashton under Lyne.
